Soulful Symphony is the debut novel of Dr. Hemamalini Lakshman. The book was launched at the 10th edition of Mysuru Literature Festival by HH Pramoda Devi Wadaiyar.
About the Book
“Teaching is the one profession that creates all other professions” This book has been inspired by the positivity that is reflected in this saying. A school going child spends most of his or her formative years in the classroom. When you consider this fact, it is not hard to understand that children are strongly influenced by their lives in school.
Numerous things are learnt in school. These days, most of the focus is on the curriculum. However, the role of the teacher in a child’s life has to not just be acknowledged, but also given a lot of importance. Teachers not only impart curriculum-based learning, but also teach values, principles and life skills that are imperative to a child’s ability to navigate life’s challenges. A good teacher takes pains to understand the child’s background and problems both at home and in academic life. He or she then provides gentle support and helps the child at the time of need.
A good relationship between teacher and pupil creates a synergy, increasing learning in manifold ways. When there exists a good relationship between a teacher and his or her entire class, it results in happy, eager, and unified learners who bring about outstanding results.
The harmony that prevails in the classroom is a meeting of souls, and the symphony created is truly magical. This short inspirational novel revolves around the relationships between a novice class teacher and her students, and shows the great benefits of a positive attitude in teachers and students. It will hopefully encourage teachers to try and understand their students, and also assure children that there are adults and teachers who can guide them to face challenges in their academic lives and beyond.
